The first national training program was held in Vienna with the participation of our Authority within the scope of the COMPASS initiative launched by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2021.

The first national training program was held in Vienna on 15-19 November 2021, with the participation of our Agency, within the scope of the Capacity-Building Initiative for SSACs and SRAs (COMPASS initiative), which was initiated in 2021 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to strengthen the efficiency of the nuclear material accounting and control systems by the national authorities responsible for the implementation of nuclear safeguards.

During the training, several activities were carried out to review the IAEA safeguards equipment and non-destructive testing methods within the scope of nuclear safeguards, the legal infrastructure regarding nuclear safeguards, social assistance programs for facilities, and location outside facilities (LOFs). In addition, the preparation of nuclear material accounting reports and reporting format were examined.

In addition to these activities,  within the scope of the training program, the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant was visited, discussions were made with the Finnish Nuclear Regulatory Authority (STUK) officials regarding cooperation for nuclear safeguards procedures, and a meeting was assembled with the IAEA Department of Safeguards to evaluate the current developments.
